Land purchase for conservation

Updated: July 2009

In order to avoid fragmentation between two protected areas (see satellite photo), the Chelemhá cloud forest reserve was expanded over 172 ha, including 100 ha of primary cloud forest.

The conservationist organization UPROBON is the owner of the purchased land. This organization administrates the protected area and coordinates conservation activities in Chelemhá.

The financiation of the land purchase has been finalized in 2009 and was supported by NABU Regionalverband Erzgebirge e.V., Stiftung Artenschutz, PROEVAL RAXMU, and private donators. We are grateful for all donations.
